Academic interests include land law, agrarian law, and environmental law topics, in particular legal problems of formation and preservation of the national ecological network, which is the topic of her dissertation research.

Mariya Vashchyshyn was born in 1973. In 1994, she graduated with an honors degree from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, the Faculty of Law.

In 2000, she defended the dissertation “Land Legal Relations of Peasant (Farm) Households” at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Since 2000, Mariya Vashchyshyn had been working at the Faculty of Law as an Assistant Professor until in 2003 she became a Docent at the Department of Social Law Her academic activity includes the issues of legal status of farms, village social development and codification of agrarian legislation.

She teaches courses in Land Law of Ukraine, Agrarian Law of Ukraine, special courses in Legal Responsibility for Violation of Environmental Legislation and Legal Support of Agrarian Entrepreneurship.

Participation in international scientific and/or educational projects:

In July 2022, as a legal expert, she was involved in an analytical study on the social protection of displaced persons, including check-lists/lists of social rights and social protection measures for both displaced people and receiving State (Providing legal and technical expertise related to the protection of displaced persons, including check-list of social rights and social protection measures for both displaced people and receiving State), organized by the Council of Europe (The Council of Europe, BH8814/ DEPARTMENT of SOCIAL RIGHTS)
