FEEDBACK ON THE STUDY VISIT TO NICOLAUS COPERNICUS UNIVERSITY
(Toruń, Poland)
The study visit to the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Nicolaus Copernicus University (Toruń, Poland) was organised at a high level and left an unforgettable impression. The proposed topics of the training sessions covered a wide range of issues of legal education reform in the context of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, including Europeanization and improvement of the teaching of constitutional, administrative, criminal and other branches of law, development of educational programs and teaching materials, internationalisation of higher education through EU projects and initiatives, digitalisation, human resources strategy, inclusiveness in higher education, etc. Experienced lecturers demonstrated their professional knowledge of the material, shared their own experience and developed approaches to the organisation of the educational process and teaching of academic disciplines in response to the existing challenges and problems faced by higher legal education and science in Poland in the course of its reform. The training sessions’ relevant and high-quality content and the lecturers’ openness and sincerity contributed to discussions with a broad audience.
Sincere gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Maciej Sierowiec, and his professional team for their hospitality and excellent organisation of the study visit!

From September 9 to 13, 2024, the EU4UA project hosted an educational and scientific event at the Nicolaus Copernicus University on adapting Ukrainian law curricula to Ukraine’s future integration into the European Union.
The challenges accompanying the Europeanization of Ukrainian legal sectors during the multi-day seminar were discussed. The most difficult of them is Russia’s full-scale armed aggression against Ukraine.
The study visit primarily provided an opportunity to understand the directions for reforming the educational process in Ukrainian law schools. Modernising the law curricula at Ukrainian universities is important to this end.
The training also highlighted the need for internationalising Ukrainian law schools and higher education institutions and for the professional development of researchers.
Finally, the information obtained during the event made it possible to formulate proposals for improving educational and research work in Ukrainian universities. These include changing the concept of the Law Faculty library by creating conditions for students to stay there for a long time, digitising library collections, installing digital bookstores for students, creating lounges for students at the faculty, providing information and organisational assistance to the teaching academic staff in engaging in grant projects, including Erasmus+.
