School of German Law

School of German Law is a free project for students, alumnus and teachers of the Law Faculty of Lviv National University, in which the participants have opportunity to visit lectures of eight German scholars and practitioners.

Classes are mainly held on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). During the year, students pass two tests for check up the acquired knowledge.

Requirements:

Knowledge of German (A2-B1 and above)

The level of language proficiency will be checked before the beginning of the lessons and can also be confirmed by the appropriate language certificate.

After completing the training, participants will receive a certificate of completion of the course and the opportunity to study at the Summer School of Law in Germany, attend the Law Faculty of the University of Bonn, and take part in a court hearing and other interesting activities.

The best student in the course receives a scholarship that provides research work at one of the German universities.

School of Polish and European Law

Students, post-graduate students, teachers and alumnus of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv have the opportunity to study and participate in events organized within the School of Polish and European Law, which is a joint project of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Law and Administration Faculty of Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

The school starts in 2007-2008  and provides lectures by scholars, legal practitioners not only from the Republic of Poland, but also from the European Union.

What is more the program of study at the School of Polish and European Law also includes  Polish language course where everyone can also learn legal terminology.

In addition alumnus have the opportunity to practice in the best law firms in Poland and study at Jagiellonian University in Krakow.

School of American Law

In collaboration with the Chicago-Kent College of Law (IIT) at the Law Faculty of Lviv National University was opened  the School of American Law, which gives the opportunity for students, teachers and alumnus to attend  lectures of best American professors in various areas of law and to get a certificate of Chicago-Kent College of Law (IIT).

Teachers and Subjects of the School of American Law:

  • prof. Dana Wagner, In-House Corporate Law Practice, former head of law at Google and Square (among 5 of tech’s most powerful lawyers in the USA);
  • prof. Edward Lee, Intellectual Property Law, Harward cum laude graduate, one of the top scholars in the field of IP Law in the United States;

Classes are held in English at weekends at LNU Law School . The participants of the School take the exams of the completed courses and in the case of successful completion, receive a certificate.

Students of the School  have a right to continue their studies and to earn a degree within two years of completing their studies at the School of Law.

International trainings on Roman law as a basis of European law culture: the experiences of Ukraine and Poland

International Conference “Administrative Justice in Poland and in Ukraine: Comparative Aspects ”, organized by Law Faculty and Supreme Court (September 27, 2019)

The VII International Forum on the Practice of the European Court of Human Rights. It was organized by the Law Faculty, the Supreme Court and OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine (November 22-23, 2019).

On March 21, 2019, was organized the meting with Professor Bostan Zupancic (Former Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Vice-President UN Committee against Torture, Doctor of Laws (Harvard University).

March 16-24, 2019, the Law School held free lectures on the course “Legal English”, held by professors Würzburg (Germany) Karin Linhart and Roger Fabry.

July 05, 2019 in the framework of cooperation between the Department of Criminal Law and of Criminology at Lviv National University and Department of Criminal Law and Criminology at the Maria Kuri Skłodowska University (Lublin, Poland) at the Faculty of Lublin Law and Administration of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University took place international scientific conference on criminal law which was devoted to the study of the institution of extreme need in the criminal the law of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland. It was dedicated to the problem of responsibility of bodily injury in Ukraine and the Republic of Poland

Professor Nor V.T. and Docent Slyusarchuk H. R. participated in internationally internship at the University of Graz (Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz) in Graz (Austria) during 02.05.2019 as part of the project Implementation of the project “Modernization of Master’s program for future courts, prosecutors which is complied with European Human Rights Standard (ERASMUS + KA2 Collaboration to introduce innovation and share positive experiences -Capacity Building in Higher Education).

Professor Burdin V.M. and Associate Shup’yan M.Yu. passed the international scientific internship at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maria Curie Skłodowska in Lublin, Poland (Lublin, November 4-10 2018).

Docent  Mochulska M.E. passed a scientific internship in the University of Vienna (Austria) (10 October- 31 October 2019). Head of Internship – Professor at the Institute of Public and Administrative Law of University of Vienna Daniel Ennockle. Internship topic: “ The independence of the judiciary in Austria: lessons for Ukraine. “

Docent  Kvit N.M. passed a scientific internship in Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich at the Department of Civil and Medical rights under the scientific guidance of professor Andreas Spikhoff (June -August 2019).

Docent  Stetsyk N.V. participated in the Internship Program at the Faculty of Law of Foggia University «Human Rights and Cultural Diversity» within Erasmus + KA 1 Programs /Higher Education (July 21-25, 2019), Foggia(Italy), and also took part in training course “Introduction to German Law” (16 hours). at the Faculty of Law,of the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (Würzburg, Germany) (July 5–21, 2019).

Docent  Shandra R. S., Docent Senik S.V. passed the international scientific internship at Wroclaw University (Republic of Poland).

Professor Kossak V.M., Docent Moryak -Protopopova H.M. passed the international scientific internship at Rzeszow University (Republic of Poland).

Docent Shkolik A.M. was passed internship at Jagiellonian University (Republic of Poland).

Postgraduate Shkodyak A.I. attended the academy “Civil law and protection of fundamental rights ” in Bonn (Germany). The academy was supported jointly by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (Bonn, Germany) and Faculty of  Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Lviv, Ukraine), November 2018.

Joint master’s double degree program with Nicholas Romeris University. (Vilnius, Lithuania)

In accordance with the Agreement on cooperation in the implementation of masters programs in the field of European International Business Law with the Mykolas Romeris University 04.07.2018 there is a master’s program of double diploma at the Faculty of Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv

Participants of the joint master’s program are citizens of Ukraine who have entered the magistracy of the Faculty of Law according to the results of the independent test (specialization “Legal Support of European Integration of Ukraine”).

The language of instruction is English (English language certificate is not required). Teaching at the master’s program in Ukraine is provided by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of International Relations of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The duration of the master’s program is two years, one of which is spent at the Law Faculty of Lviv University and the other one at the Mykolas Romeris University (Vilnius, Lithuania).

Students who successfully complete the Program will receive a Master’s Degree issued by the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and a master’s degree issued by the Mykolas Romeris University.

At the Mykolas Romeris University students pay a fee set for the academic year of study which is half the amount for students of the Law Faculty of of Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

In addition, students can apply for a scholarship from the Government of Lithuania, which will fully cover the costs of the study and will include additional student payments. For instance, two law students have received such scholarships in 2019.

At the moment 22 students are participating in the joint master’s program of double diploma, 9 students are studying at the Mykolas Romeris University, the rest of the students will begin their studies in September 2020.
