Starting on November 25, within the framework of the Erasmus+ KA2 project “Modernisation of Legal Education to Support European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine” (EU4UA), a certificate programme for teachers entitled “European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine” was launched.

The programme provides online training for teachers from all over Ukraine, delivered under a pre-designed curriculum with a total workload of 30 hours. The lecturers involved in the programme represent leading universities of Ukraine (partners of the Erasmus+ KA2 Project): Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, and Zaporizhzhia National University (ZNU).

At the beginning of the course, the participants were welcomed by the Project Coordinator, Professor Olena Boryslavska. She emphasised that, in the context of Ukraine’s European integration process, this certification programme is highly relevant. Professor Larysa Udovyka of Zaporizhzhia National University also addressed the participants, outlining the key organisational aspects of the programme.

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to explain the key institutions, principles, and policies of the EU and NATO; analyse Ukraine’s role in the processes of European and Euro-Atlantic integration; and apply interactive teaching methods to disseminate knowledge about the EU and NATO among students.

The programme is structured into three modules:
Module 1. The European Union: values, institutions, and Ukraine’s path.
Module 2. NATO and Ukraine: security, resilience, and myths.
Module 3. Teaching EU- and NATO-related topics in schools.

Currently, training is underway for two groups of teachers. Until 23 December, lectures on behalf of Zaporizhzhia National University are delivered by the Faculty of Law staff: Professor Larysa Udovyka (also the ZNU project coordinator) and Associate Professor Iia Pelekh.

We would like to recall that on 24–25 November 2023, a meeting of participants of the Erasmus+ KA2 Project “Modernisation of Legal Education to Support the European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine (EU4UA)” took place in Toruń, Poland, at Nicolaus Copernicus University. Representatives of the Faculty of Law of Zaporizhzhia National University also participated in the meeting.

The event brought together colleagues from Nicolaus Copernicus University (Poland), Vytautas Magnus University (Lithuania), LUISS University (Italy), Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, and Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. Representatives of our university have been sharing the results of their projects for several years, including within the Erasmus+ KA2 framework.
