Research interests

Research interests: issues of the theory of Labor Law and Employment Law. He headed a group of scholars who developed the concept of the new Labor Code of Ukraine. He is a Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Center for Social and Legal Research. He has prepared more than 20 Candidates of Law and 4 Doctors of Science. He is the author of more than 170 publications, including three monographs, textbooks on Labor Law, Social Security Law, Environmental Law and Fundamentals of Law of Ukraine.

Biography

Pylypenko Pylyp Danylovych graduated from the Faculty of Law at Ivan Franko State University of Lviv in 1976. He was awarded the academic degree of Candidate of Law in 1985 (thesis “Legal regulation of labor relations in state agro-industrial associations”) and the academic degree of Docent in 1986. In 2002 he defended the doctoral thesis on the topic “Problems of Theory of Labor Relations in the Transition to Market Economy”. In 2005 he was awarded the academic title of Professor. He is an Honored Lawyer of Ukraine (2007), Cavalier of the Order of Merit of the 3rd degree (2013) and a Merited Professor at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (2015). Since 1991 he has been the Head of the Department of Social Law at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

He was a member of the Expert Council on Legal Sciences of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine.

He is a member of the editorial board of the journal “Law of Ukraine” and chairman of the editorial board of the “Visnyk of the Lviv University. Series Law”.

He was elected a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council of two previous convocations and was a member of the Presidium of the Regional Council.

Area of expertise – study of the problems of the theory of Labor Law. He teaches the course of Labor Law and several specialized courses and prepares methodological materials for the learning process. He is a member of the working group on the development of the new Labor Code of Ukraine.

Awards:

  • Honored Lawyer of Ukraine;
  • Honorary award of the Supreme Council of Justice by the order No. 32/0/1-12 of May 31, 2012;
  • Order of Merit of the 3rd degree by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of October 8, 2013 (Order Badge No. 12963).
