Research interests

Research interests include theoretical and practical aspects of protection of labour and social rights of employees, the application of judicial practice in resolving labour disputes, implementation of the European standards regulating social protection of Ukrainian citizens and equated persons.

Biography

Hirnyk Oksana Olehivna was born on October 29, 1988. In 2010, she graduated with honours from the Law Faculty of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and received a degree of Master of Law.

In 2014, she defended her dissertation “Social Services under the Law of Ukraine” for the degree of Candidate of Law at V.M. Koretskyi Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Scientific supervisor – Professor, Doctor of Law S.M. Synchuk

Education:

  • In 2010, she received a degree of Master of Law from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
  • In 2014, she completed her postgraduate studies at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
  • In 2014, she defended her Candidate dissertation “Social Services under the Legislation of Ukraine” in the specialty 12.00.05 – “Labor law. Social security law”.

 

Work experience:

September 2010 – November 2014 – part-time postgraduate student at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv

September 2014 – August 2021 – Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil Law, Lviv Polytechnic National University;

September 2018 – until present – Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Law, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;

April 2018 – until now – independent advocacy.

 

Practical activity in the field of law:

On April 10th, 2018, Oksana Hirnyk received the Certificate № 000954 confirming her right to proceed with the advocacy by the Bar Council of Lviv Region.

 

Advanced training: 06.11.2021 – 12.12. 2021 – the international distance learning internship “Fundraising and Organization of Project Activities in Educational Establishments: European Experience” by Foundation “Zustrich” (Poland), Jagiellonian University, Department of Polish-Ukrainian Studies (Poland), NGO “Sobornist” (Ukraine), Luhansk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education (Ukraine). Total duration of – 180 hours / 6 ECTS credits (SZFL Certificate – 001056).

Projects

Participation in international scientific and/or educational projects:

In 2020, as a procedural expert, Oksana Hirnyk was involved in an analytical study of the “General Analysis of the Law of Ukraine “On Social Services”, other Laws of Ukraine and by-laws regulating social services relations in Ukraine” for changes and mutual agreements that require legislative norms. (Providing expert and methodological support to the analysis of the Law of Ukraine “On Social Services”, related regulatory framework and (draft) secondary legislation concerned in line with the European Social Charter and best European practices), organized by the Council of Europe (The Council of Europe, 8666/02-2019/UCSLS/1, The Council of Europe Office of Ukraine).

In February-May 2021, as a legal expert, Oksana Hirnyk was involved in an analytical study on the development of proposals for ways to enhance and reform the current system of social services of Ukraine, according to the best European practices and norms of the European Social Charter (revised). (Providing methodological recommends for government of Ukraine to enhance and reform the current system of social services according to the best European practices and European Social Charter. (The Council of Europe, Promoting social human rights as a key factor of sustainable in Ukraine, BH8666/ID2503. European Social Charter Department).

In November 2021, as a legal expert, Oksana Hirnyk was involved in an analytical study on the formation of a list of laws of Ukraine that must be brought into line with the National Strategy for the creation of a Barrier-Free Society in Ukraine (Provide an analysis and mapping of the regulatory framework of Ukraine vis-à-vis the National Strategy on Barrier-Free Society), organized by the Council of Europe (The Council of Europe, Department of the European social charter) on the request of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

In July 2022, as a legal expert, Oksana Hirnyk was involved in an analytical study on the social protection of displaced persons, including check-lists/lists of social rights and social protection measures for both displaced people and receiving State (Providing legal and technical expertise related to the protection of displaced persons, including check-list of social rights and social protection measures for both displaced people and receiving State), organized by the Council of Europe (The Council of Europe, BH8814/ DEPARTMENT of SOCIAL RIGHTS).
