Biography

In 1991-1996 he studied at the Faculty of Law (full-time) at Ivan Franko State University of Lviv, graduating with honors. During his student years he was the chairman of the student scientific society. Under the guidance of Professor Kulchytsky VS published his first popular science works, including 10 newspaper articles and 3 brochures.
From 1996 to 1999 he studied in full-time graduate school at the Department of Theory and History of State and Law. During his postgraduate studies he was the Chairman of the Postgraduate Council.
In May 1999 he successfully defended his dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Law on the topic: “Civil law of the Hetmanate under the Code of 1743.” The supervisor was Doctor of Law, Professor VS Kulchytsky.
By the decision of the Certification Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of June 16, 2005, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of Theory and History of State and Law.
In March 2011 successfully defended his dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Laws on the topic: “Formation and functioning of state and legal and self-governing institutions in Galicia as part of the Kingdom of Poland (1387-1569).” The scientific consultant was Doctor of Law, Professor VS Kulchytsky.
By the decision of the Certification Board of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated February 14, 2014, he was awarded the academic title of Professor of the Department of History of State, Law and Political and Legal Studies.

In June 1917, the Academic Council of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv elected him head of the Department of State History, Law and Political and Legal Students of the Faculty of Law.
Under the leadership of Boyko I.Y. 4 graduate students defended their dissertations.
He is the author and co-author of more than 250 scientific works, including 6 monographs, 17 textbooks, 1 textbook, more than 150 articles, 65 abstracts, 17 teaching materials.

He is a member of the editorial board of such leading legal journals as the Historical and Legal Journal of the Lesia Ukrainka East European National University; international Czech-Ukrainian scientific-theoretical publication “Auspices”, Bulletin of Lviv University. Legal series “, all-Ukrainian legal journal” Law of Ukraine “, and is also a member of the specialized scientific council for the defense of doctoral dissertations D.35.051.03. at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

He was awarded the Diploma of the Rector of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv on October 14, 2014 for the second place in the textbook “History of legal regulation of civil, criminal and procedural relations in Ukraine (IX-XX centuries.)” In the competition “The best textbook in the humanities 2013- 2014 academic year “.

The Rector of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was thanked for many years of conscientious work and significant achievements in scientific and pedagogical activities. Rector’s order of 20.09. 2017 № 3355.
