Students’ life – an exciting time for every young person who has decided to get a professional education. For some students it is a welcome change, for others – fear of the new and unknown. For each first-year student it’s very important to have a friend or a guide who can help in a sophisticated atmosphere of students’ life. The faculty students’ government activists decided to help freshmen adapt to the new environment and quickly integrate into the students’ family of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Student Trade Union

Primary Trade Union Students’ Committee is a voluntary nongovernmental organization of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University. The Union’s main task is to protect social-economic rights and interests of their members. Any full-time student of the University recognizing the Charter of Trade Union of Education and Science workers of Ukraine who submitted an application for membership and pays Union’s fees regularly can be a member of the Union.

Sanatorium

The Sanatorium of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is a health care institution. It conducts medical and health work among full-time study students. The Sanatorium plays an important role in improving students’ health.

There are 50 inpatient beds in the Sanatorium; 600-650 students can improve their health everyear (12 times a year, 21 days each time). The Sanatorium is located in the campus having all modern conveniences of residence.

How to get a Voucher to the sanatorium?

Primary Trade Union Students’ Committee gives the Vouchers.
The document for getting the the Voucher is received at the students’ clinic.
The Voucher is given for 21 days including weekends.

Necessary documents to receive a Voucher:

  • Medical certificate;
  • Paid Bill (143 hryvnyas);
  • The Application submitted by a student personally;
  • Passport submitted by a student personally.

 

Students’ Health Care

Camp “Karpaty

Students’ health care camp “Karpaty” is situated in the mountains not far from the village Chynadiyevo in the Transcarpathian region.

Students are accommodated in brick cottages. Two, three or four students can share a room. There are also wooden cottages for four persons. There are playgrounds for football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis. Students can have a rest in the recreation area “Boomerang” near the lake in the village of Dyjda. Hikings and trips to Berehovo, Solotvino, Mukachevo and Uzhgorod can also be organized.

Students can spend there 12 days and have meals three times a day.

HCC Lisotechnik

Health Care Camp “Lisotechnik” is situated not far from the village of Rybakivka, Berezan dystrict of Mykolaiv region on the seaside (the Black Sea).

Students are accommodated in cottages and one-storeyed buildings. Two, three or four students can share a room with modern conveniences (bathroom, fridge, TV). There are also wooden cottages for four persons. There is a canteen for 350 students, doctor’s office with the appropriate medical equipment for first aid. There are playgrounds for football, volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, gymnastic equipment. There is a stationary lifeguards’ point on a beach.

A rest in Bulgaria

Students’ trade union offers holidays at resorts in Bulgaria:

  • Resort “Golden Sands”
  • Resort “Sunny Beach”
  • Obzor town in Bulgaria

Documents required to get a visa to Bulgaria (submitted no later than 14 days before leaving for a trip):

  1. Passport (should be valid at least 6 months after returning to Ukraine)
  2. Copy of the 1st page of the passport
  3. 1 photo 3.5 x 4.5
  4. A tourist application

Students under 21 don’t pay for a visa. Visa costs 35 euros. When members of the Trade Union Committee pay for a trip they will have discount 700 hryvnyas!

Folk Song and Dance Ensemble Cheremosh

Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Cheremosh” of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was founded more than 50 years ago.

The Ensemble participates in various cultural events held at the University, in Lviv and other cities of our country. Every year at Christmas the choir “Cheremosh” takes part at the festival of Christmas carols “Velyka Kolyada” held in Lviv, in autumn the Ensemble goes to Rakhiv to Festival of Hutsul crafts and culture “Hutsulska Bryndzya”.

“Cheremosh” is run by the Director and choreographer Vasyl Pipash, Olena Volchek is a choir conductor, an orchestra leader is Roman Dolny. Roman Dolny (orchestra leader). The repertoire of the Ensemble – dance, vocal and choreographic compositions of different regions of Ukraine: Boikivshchyna, Transcarpathia, Bukovyna, Hutsulshchyna as well as songs and orchestral works arranged by famous Ukrainian composers, and thematic programs dedicated to Christmas, Easter and Taras Shevchenko.

Music and songs full of poetic content from the repertoire of “Cheremosh” are based on the best traditions of folk culture. Ukrainian writer Pavlo Grabowski wrote about folk songs: “What a sonority and beauty, not to mention the classic simplicity and spontaneity, inspiration! They will inspire the future generations for ages.”

Dancers and singers of the Ensemble “Cheremosh” have got a lot of rehearsals, they go on tours. They are very fond of the Ensemble. For decades the group has created their own rich traditions handed over from generation to generation. There are artistic events dedicated to first year students and graduates, other exciting festivities.
